Homsters launched approximately four years ago, experiencing rapid growth. The company focuses on building online services and assisting the growing middle classes of emerging markets to choose and purchase properties in new developments.
In its first year of operations, Homsters supported over 150 developers in seven countries in selling over USD 500 million worth of real estate. The company currently has over 50 employees in London, Kiev, Astana and Almaty and operates marketplace in Kazakhstan (homsters.kz).
Property Portal Watch caught up with Homsters CEO and founder Andrew Olejnik at the recent Property Portal Watch Conference in Bangkok.
When asked what he saw as his company's biggest obstacle in the race to the transaction, Olejnik said, that Homsters is actually helping other classifieds portals make this transition. The biggest challenge for Homsters in the process is the "mental switch" which people who have been in the advertising industry for years, decades undergo when presented with this new way of conducting business.
