Kelmscott family feud leaves man dead, woman with serious injuries
Updated
A man aged in his 70s has been killed and an elderly woman left critically injured after a violent domestic dispute in the southern Perth suburb of Kelmscott.
A third person believed to be involved in the dispute — a man in his 40s who is known to the victims — is in custody and under police guard in Fiona Stanley Hospital with injuries sustained before his arrest.
The woman, also aged in her 70s, is currently undergoing emergency surgery at Royal Perth Hospital, where her condition is listed as critical.
Police said they believed it was a family violence incident.
Officers and paramedics were called to a home on Ensign Dale just after 7:00am after reports a man and a woman had serious injuries.
Dozens of forensic investigators, Homicide Squad detectives and St John Ambulance officers have been on the scene since the early hours of this morning.
Police said the dispute began at the house before spilling out to surrounding streets.
Roads and access to a public park in an area stretching almost a kilometre in each direction from the scene have been closed.
A police spokesman said investigators were working to decrease the size of the crime scene as they search the area for further evidence.
Police are yet to establish a motive for the incident and they are appealing for anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.
