Etta Daugherty, 93, of Hopewell Twp., passed away on Wednesday, April 25, 2018. She was born on March 30, 1925, in Kittanning, Pa., a daughter of the late William and Grace Garnet Mohney. A woman of strong faith, she was a member of Prince of Peace Anglican Church. Florence worked as a bookkeeper throughout most of her life working for Pittsburgh and Shawmutt Railroad, Meadowgold Dairy, the U.S. Mint in Washington, D.C., and the Lowry Air Force Base Exchange in Denver, Colo. She made the most of her role as a military wife, teaching her family a love of travel and new experiences. She retired from Optometric Care in Aliquippa where she worked as an optometric assistant. Florence was an amazing seamstress who made beautiful clothing and costumes for her family. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star. Florence perfected the role of grandma and was actively involved in her grandchildren's lives. She enjoyed many baseball games, dance recitals, figure skating competitions and hockey games. She enjoyed fellowship at her church in crafting activities, rummage sales and preparing and serving meals. In addition to her parents, Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Fred H. Daugherty and two sisters, Bernice Hogan and Dolores Clever. She is survived by a son, Thomas Fred Daugherty and his wife, Carol; a daughter, Susan Vicinie and her husband, Rusty; six grandchildren, Tamara (Greg) Warmbrodt, Thomas (Kim) Daugherty, Jennifer Vicinie, Timothy (fiancé Kristie Brannon) Vicinie, Laura (Will) Witherow and Matthew Vicinie; three great-grandchildren, Kate and Kaley Daugherty and Walter Witherow; a brother, William D. Mohney; three sisters, Wilma Schwartz, Gayle Groft and Patricia McKinney and her dearest friend, June Smith. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who showered her with love and affection. Friends will be received on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the DARROCH CREMATION AND FUNERAL TRIBUTES INC., 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa, www.darrochfuneralhome.com. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. in Prince of Peace Anglican Church with Pastor John Heidengren officiating. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
