Saratoga Springs rallied with a five-goal fourth quarter to defeat Burnt Hills 13-11 in boys' lacrosse on Thursday afternoon.

The Suburban Council showdown was sparked by Matt Shamberger's seven-point outing (five goals, two assists) while Will Fox chipped in with four goals and two assists.

Burnt Hills was led by Caeden Lapietro's four goals while Ty McHerron also had a four-point day split evenly between goals and assists.

Saratoga, which improved to 6-4, did not score in the third quarter and trailed 10-8 heading into the final 12-minute period.

Blue Streaks goalie Ryan Flemming produced 19 saves, including four in the fourth period. His counterpart, Chris Serifini, had 10.

Shamberger had two goals in the fourth, including the go-ahead (12-11) score. Fox also had two scores in the last period to cap the rally.

Girls' lacrosse: Annabelle Conover scored five goals and Sydney McPartlon chipped in three more as Niskayuna topped Averill Park 17-6 in a Suburban Council game.

Softball: Alysa Houghtaling tossed a complete-game four-hitter and knocked in a run at the plate to lead Maple Hill (10-0, 8-0) to a 2-0 win over Greenville. Greenville hurler Ava Fitzmaurice nearly matched Houghtaling, finishing with nine strikeouts over six innings. The Wildcats scored both of their runs in the sixth inning on back-to-back RBI singles from Ariana Papas and Houghtaling. ... Columbia's Taylor O'Brien had as good of a start to a varsity career as anyone could hope to have. The Blue Devils freshman earned her win in the circle and struck out 19 in a 9-0 win against Schenectady. She also went 3-for-4 with a solo home run in the fourth inning of the Suburban Council matchup. ... Kendal Rafferty's RBI single in the eighth inning propelled Guilderland to a 2-1 win over Colonie. Sarah Baluch homered for the Lady Dutch (5-4, 3-3).

Baseball: Jeremy Ramirez fell a double shy of hitting for the cycle as Hudson outlasted Coxsackie 11-9 in a Patroon Conference game. Ramirez finished with four RBIs. Nick Bernockie also homered for the Bluehawks (9-1 Patroon). ... Justin Nesbitt went 4-for-5 with a triple and Connor Bovair added three doubles to help South Glens Falls to a 9-4 win against Fort Ann in nonleague play.
