Wichita Falls police investigate a possible shooting on MLK Blvd. Wochit
A 19-year-old Wichita Falls man is behind bars for reportedly shooting a woman during an argument.
Dakota Dewayne Torrence is charged with aggravated assault family violence.
He was booked into the Wichita County Jail Friday afternoon. His bail was not set as of 4:30 p.m.
According to a WFPD news release:
Around 12:45 p.m., Wichita Falls police were sent to the 1300 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard for shots having been reportedly fired in the area.
Upon arrival, officers located a black man, later identified as Torrence. They also found a 31-year-old black woman with a gunshot wound to her torso.
Officers detained Torrence at the scene for questioning while the woman was taken to United Regional Health Care System by ambulance.
Detectives later determined that Torrence and the victim, who are reportedly in a relationship, had been arguing. Torrence allegedly then shot the victim during the dispute.
Police recovered a handgun from the scene of the alleged shooting.
Torrence was taken to the county jail without incident.
The release stated that the victim was listed in stable condition as of 4:30 p.m. Friday.
