The 2018 Farm Bill contains major cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program program. These funding reductions, as much as $10 billion over 10 years, would increase hunger and hardship for SNAP recipients, including people with disabilities, older workers, low-wage workers and people temporarily between jobs.
These cuts will have more people seeking help from food pantries, soup kitchens and organizations that are already strapped.
With one in eight Americans struggling to put food on the table, and one in five children living in poverty, I urge our congressional representatives to vote against these proposed cuts in SNAP. The SNAP program should be expanded in funding and not reduced.
