Tulsa's Gathering Place To Display Local Art

TULSA, Oklahoma -

Tulsa's Gathering Place wants Oklahoma artists to create pieces they can display in the park.

They're also looking for performers of all types.

They've already commissioned several artists like Chris Willard, a sculptor and blacksmith who is best known for his "art cars." He's designing a sculpture that sprays a fine mist of water to cool off visitors.

"I like to create for the space. I'm still developing my style, I like to create things that go in the environment they're being created for," said Willard.

“We really want to reach out to Oklahoma and Tulsa artists first to tell them we have a new place for them to exhibit and perform,” said Gathering Place Vice President Kirsten Hein.

"We need a lot of people to help us get work in the park. We have work involving as many as 40 artists,” she said.

There is no date yet for the park to open, but the call for artists and performers is open-ended.
