Dr. Sudhir Mishra Director General (BrahMos), DRDO, Govt. Of India has been conferred with the Distinguished Alumnus Award by Indian Institute of Technology Madras at Chennai on 26^th April 2018 during the celebration of the 59^th Institution Day – Founding of IIT Madras. IIT Madras has conferred DAA award on twelve achievers out of them seven are working in the fields of energy, communication, IT and Health management in the US, one in the field of education in Singapore and rest in India.

The awards were given away by Dr. Bhaskar Ramamurthi, Director, Indian Institute of Technology Madras. Distinguished alumni are selected based on their contribution to science & technology, society and achievements in the respective fields which has made IIT Madras proud. Dr Bhaskar said that the distinguished alumni have tremendously contributed in the fields of Science & Technology and by their achievements they have set a right example for the young students & faculty members. Recently NIRF of MHRD, Govt of India has ranked IIT Madras as the top institution among all Engineering Institutions in the country

Chief guest Mr. Santhanam, President & Managing Director, Saint Gobain said that BrahMos has proved itself as the right example of “Make in India” initiative of the Government of India.

Dr Mishra in his acceptance speech thanked the institute for imparting knowledge, skills and values which are learnt at IIT.
