Martha Hall Dawson, 75, of 700 Spring Street, Hurt, died on Thursday, April 26, 2018, at her home. She was the beloved wife of the late Larry Dean Dawson for forty-five years. She was born on July 18, 1942, in Campbell County, a daughter of the late John Thomas Hall and Maude Dowdy Hall. She was a member of Monte Vista Baptist Church and retired from the Altavista Journal. Martha enjoyed cooking but her greatest love was her family. She is survived by three sons, Christopher Scott Dawson and his fiance, Denise Barker, Bradley Clinton Dawson and his fiance, Teri Tomlinson, and Sherman Todd Dawson and his fiance, Brandi Minton, all of Hurt; two brothers, Samuel Wyatt Hall and his wife, Margaret of Gladys and Garland Hall and his wife, Elaine of Hurt; two sisters, Viola Epperson and Pauline Lindsey and her husband, Byrd, all of Gladys; five grandchildren, Jessica Harris, Amanda Farmer, Bradley Dawson, Jr., Danielle Dawson, and Christopher Dawson; a special niece and devoted caregiver, Kelly Hensley; and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Larry Dean Dawson, Jr.; a granddaughter, Ashley Dawson; seven brothers, and four sisters. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 28, 2018, at Monte Vista Baptist Church by the Rev. Wyatt Miles and the Rev. Latta Terry with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m., Friday, April 27, 2018, at Finch & Finch Funeral and Cremation Service, Altavista and other times at the residence.
