RPF staff of
Konkan Railway helped recover a mobile phone that was stolen from one of the passengers from
Ratnagiri railway station on April 25. Jaisingh Pancham, the passenger had connected his mobile for charging at mobile charging point at Ratnagiri station when two unknown persons approached him and enquired about train going towards Mumbai. After sometime when he checked his mobile, it was missing from the charging stand.
Jaisingh immediately brought this incident to notice of RPF Sub Inspector at Ratnagiri station who swung into action. When they checked the
CCTV footage, they found that two persons approached Pancham. While one engaged him in talk, the other person pocketed the mobile phone and quietly vanished from the scene. RPF staff combed the station and adjoining area and apprehended one of them from front of
Giriratna Hotel and the other loitering on the platform.
The suspects were brought to RPF office where one of them –
Shyam confessed about the theft and produced the mobile phone. Both suspects were handed over to city police for further process of the case under section 379 of IPC. Konkan Railway has not only been effectively discharging their duties of protection of railway property but also instrumental in securing valuable articles and lost belongings of passengers and return them to rightful owners.
