John E. Goodman, 94, of Argonia, died Thursday, April 26, at his home with his son by his side.
John was born the son of Walter and Mille (LaFontz) Goodman on Tuesday, July 31, 1923 in Towanda.
On June 8, 1948, John and Margie Lee Rhamy were united in marriage at the home of her parents in Argonia. Together they celebrated 65 years of marriage before her passing in 2013.
John loved his community and was able to serve others through his employment. He was a Postal Clerk for the USPS in Argonia and retired after 33 years. John then worked for the City of Argonia handling maintenance for another twenty years. He kindness and service will be missed by many.
Survivors include his son, Jerry Goodman of Argonia; brother, George Goodman of Blue Springs, Missouri; sister, Minnie Helms of Anthony; sister, Rosetta Moore and her husband Marion of Wichita, and many nieces and nephews.
Along with his wife, John E. was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Walter, Jr. and James and his sisters: Arvella, Virginia, Ramona, Edna and Etta.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, April 30, 2018 with the family present from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Funeral services for John E. will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 1, 2018 in the Plain Church, Argonia, Kansas.
Interment will follow at the Argonia Cemetery, Argonia.
Memorial funds have been established in his loving memory to either the Plains Church of Argonia or the Argonia Fire Department. Contributions may be mailed or left with the funeral home.
