A DeLand man is accused of installing video surveillance inside the bathroom used by a 17-year-old girl and police have charged him with multiple counts of video voyeurism.

Police spokesman Chris Graham said the case against the suspect, Jameke Toussaint, remains open.

A warrant was issued and Toussaint, 31, turned himself in Wednesday afternoon at the Volusia County Branch Jail, according to the Sheriff's Office. He was charged with eight counts of video voyeurism, each a third-degree felony.

DeLand police released a report Thursday, but much of it was redacted due to the investigation still being active. The report stated that someone close to Toussaint contacted police in November 2017 after noticing some "disturbing behavior."

She discovered he had installed a hidden camera inside of a 17-year-old girl's bathroom, which led to an argument and a fight, police said.

Toussaint was apprehended on suspicion of battery and was questioned about the alleged voyeurism, according to the report.

Police said they confiscated computer equipment, cellphones and "multiple data storage devices."

Bail information was not available Thursday. Records show Toussaint is no longer in jail. His listed address is in Nahunta, Georgia.
