Nick’s Coney Island Hot Dogs is opening in May on Acushnet Avenue

NEW BEDFORD — Hot diggity!

Nick’s Coney Island Hot Dogs is opening its third location in May at 2112 Acushnet Ave. The company is hiring for the location in the city’s North End, too.

Nicholas Pappas founded Nick’s in 1920 in Fall River, according to the company’s website. To this day, the restaurant makes its “secret sauce” with this original recipe that was developed at end of the 19th century.

Nick’s is the oldest continuous Coney Island hot dog outlet in the region, according to the company. Many well-known people have eaten at Nick’s over the years, including the Marx Brothers, Lucille Ball and Jackie Gleason.

Nick’s also is located at 534 S. Main St. and 2069 S. Main St., both in Fall River.
