UPSC result 2017: Pratham Kaushik of Haryana gets fifth rank

Pratham Kaushik, 24, a resident of Haryana’s Mahendragarh district secured the fifth rank in the civil Services Exam 2017, results for which were declared by the Union Public Services Commission on Friday.

He studied materials and metalurgical engineering at Punjab Engineering College (PEC), Chandigarh. Pratham’s father Narendra Kaushik is a deputy excise and taxation commissioner posted in Kaithal.

Kaushik said Pratham started preparing for the UPSC exam soon after graduating. “He gave his first attempt in 2016 with little preparation, only to study the exam pattern. This time he studied hard and succeeded in prelims, mains and interview,” he said.

Anudeep Durishetty of Hyderabad topped the Civil Services Exam 2017 while Anu Kumari and Sachin Gupta clinched the second and third spot respectively.
