Chardon again conducting curbside brush collection

City of Chardon

Chardon is again conducting a residential curbside brush collection program, which is funded through the Shade Tree Assessment.

The brush will be picked up on the last Monday of each month through September. The contractor will not enter private streets or apartment complexes, according to a news release.

The first brush pick-up will be on April 30.

The city is reminding residents to comply with the guidelines when preparing their brush for pick-up. Branch length should not exceed 5 feet in length and the branches can be no larger than 5 inches in diameter. Brush should not be tied or bundled as it will be chipped at the curb. Vines, thorns, roots and stumps will not be collected.

It must be placed to the curb along city roadways according to the guidelines but not sooner than one week before collection and residents should try and refrain from placing material in the ditch.

Residents are also reminded that this program is intended to be used for the removal of brush – not felled trees. However, Christmas trees that are unbagged and free of all decorations, string, etc., will be accepted.
