Bhopal: Various organisations, elected representatives bat for women’s reservation bill


Bhopal: Elected representatives of local bodies, members of women and social organisations came on one platform pitching for women’s reservation bill. Centre for Social Research, New Delhi; Mahila Chetna Manch, Child Rights Observatory Bhopal and Sangini Resource Centre, Bhopal jointly organised a programme at Pastoral Centre on Thursday.

President of Mahila Chetna Manch and Child Rights Observatory Nirmala Buch stressed on giving recognition to women’s work. She also stated that women should be present in all political parties as a pillar. If women will come in politics in large numbers they will take women issues in their perspective, said Secretary Sangini Gender Resource Centre Prarthana Mishra.

Sarpanch of village panchayat Rohna, Hoshangabad Maina Rajput informed about her work in panchayat. Stating that she could become a sarpanch after a long struggle, Rajput said that she created a team of women of 24 villages to raise women issues. Many corporators of Bhopal Municipal Corporation and sarpanchs from Raisen, Hoshangabad, Sehore and Vidisha districts shared their experiences as an elected representative. Representatives of various NGO’s are also present in the programme.
