Power staff plan protest on May 4

Seek Pay Revision Commission

About 20 employees’ unions of four Telangana power utilities have demanded that the managements constitute pay revision committee to revise their salaries and allowances by May 1 or else they would go ahead with their protest scheduled on May 4.

In a memorandum submitted to Chairman and Managing Director of TS-Genco and TS-Transco D. Prabhakar Rao here on Thursday, the representatives of the 20 employees associations and unions requested him to constitute the Pay Revision Negotiation Committee for the revision of pay and allowances to the employees of the power utilities since the revision was due from April 1 this year.

General secretary of Telangana Electricity Employees Union G. Saibabu said the employees were worried about the delay in initiating the process as it had to commence before the expiry of the last last pay revision committee recommendations. They would resort to agitational approach beginning with a ‘chalo vidyut soudha’ on May 5, if the pay revision negotiation committee was not constituted by May 1. He stated that the CMD had assured that the committee would be constituted by April 30.
