Family Sues American Airlines Over Wrongful Death

((VO-American Airlines))??A family of a woman who died on an American Airlines flight is suing for wrongful death.????((VO-Court Gavel))??According to WFSA, the parents and husband of 25-year-old Brittany Oswell filed federal court documents claiming that the airline failed to provide proper medical care to Oswell on an April 2016 flight.????((VO-New york Daily News Pic with Brittany/inside of plane videoblocks))??The New York Daily News notes that Oswell and her husband were on a South Carolina Bound flight from Hawaii, that had a layover in Dallas, when she became dizzy and disoriented and eventually fainted. ????Hours after she regained consciousness, she was found in the airplane lavatory covered in her own vomit and feces, according to the Daily News.????((VO-Flight Videoblocks/Medical equipment))??Business Insider reports that the lawsuit alleges the doctor who examined Oswell asked flight attendants to divert and land the plane immediately so she could receive proper care.

The site also notes that medical equipment on the plane was malfunctioning.????((VO-Videoblocks hospital))??WFSA reports that Oswell was taken to a Dallas hospital when the flight stopped in Dallas but she had already stopped breathing and lost her pulse in-flight.

She was reportedly diagnosed with brain damage and an embolism and was declared dead on April 18th, 2016.????((VO-American Air Videoblocks))??American Airlines told Business Insider, “We take the safety of our passengers very seriously and we are looking into the details of the complaint.”????
