Hong Kong: Stocks edge up at start of trade

[HONG KONG] Hong Kong stocks edged up in the first few minutes of the session Thursday following a broadly positive lead from Wall Street, with energy firms lifted by fresh gains in oil prices.

The Hang Seng Index added 0.16 per cent, or 50.00 points, to 30,378.15.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index edged up 0.05 per cent, or 1.53 points, to 3,119.50, but the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, eased 0.27 per cent, or 4.87 points, to 1,804.39.
