Giridih cops crack cases of cyber fraud

Working on cases of cyber crime and withdrawal of money from banks using fraudulent ways, a team of Bengabad police, Giridih, camped in Naxal- infested areas of Giridih for over one or two years and arrested two accused from Visunpur area on Tuesday evening. While the some accused in these cases managed to escaped, the police was successful in tracking four mobiles, four sim cards, one laptop, passbooks (4),voter Id ,few receipts, and others items from them, said SDPO Manish Toppo.    

Police of Bengabad PS found that mobile sim cards used to make calls were taken on forged documents. The Giridih police also traced that the bank accounts used for the online fraud were opened in different areas of district. The gang involved used these bank accounts to transfer the amount online. Once the amount was transferred, the gang gave a part of the amount to the bank account operator and took the remaining amount. The bank accounts used for the cyber-crime were of private as well as nationalised banks.  

According to officer-in charge of Bengabad police station two youths identified as Umesh Mandal son of Tejan Mandal, and Santosh Mandal son of Kisun Mandal who are from Visunpur operated the racket. The modus operandi of the gang was that Umesh and Santosh used to people and introduced themselves as a bank officers.
