Talvar was appreciated for its tight screenplay.

The second film in the Talvar franchise will take the original story forward. Titled Talvar 2, the film is expected to focus on a gruesome murder of a child in a Gurugram school.

Talvar 2 will be produced by Junglee Pictures and Vishal Bhardwaj. Bhardwaj will also direct the second installment.

Bhardwaj had written the screenplay for the first film.

A TOI report quoted Vishal Bhardwaj saying, “Talvar was about much more than the heinous crime itself, the film held up a mirror to society and exposed several loopholes in the system.”

The first film featuring Konkona Sen Sharma and Neeraj Kabi, was based on the story of the 2008 Noida double murder case of a 13-year-old girl named Aarushi Talwar and 45-year-old domestic worked Hemraj Banjade. Hemraj was a live-in worker employed by Aarushi’s family.

The two were killed on the night of May 15-16, 2008 at Aarushi’s home under suspicious circumstances. The case became a national interest due to the gruesome condition of the murders and dead leads in catching the suspect.

Directed by Meghna Gulzar, the first film had Irrfan Khan in a pivotal role.
