Ujjain: Disproportionate assets of Rs 2.21 crore unearthed from UMC additional commissioner


Ujjain: Disproportionate assets, including moveable and immoveable assets, to the tune of more than Rs 2.21 crore were unearthed during a raid conducted by sleuths of Lok Ayukta police simultaneously on Ujjain and Indore residences of Ujjain Municipal Corporation additional commissioner Ravindra Jain on Wednesday.

According to Lok Ayukta SP Gitesh Kumar Garg, a complaint was received against Jain and search warrant was obtained from first additional sessions judge and special judge after secret verification and registration of a case.

Two teams comprising DSPs Vedant Sharma and Shailendra Singh Thakur and inspectors Basant Shrivastava, Hitesh Patil and Antim Panwar along with others were pressed into action to conduct raid on Jain’s houses located in Shivansh Elegance, Indore Road (Ujjain) and flat number 502 of Dilpasand Heights, Kailash Park Colony located near Geeta Bhawan, Indore in the wee hours.


According to Garg, the disproportionate assets included Indore’s flat worth Rs 17 lakh; a three-storeyed hostel building measuring 1500 ft in scheme number 94, Indore, worth Rs 79 lakh; a big commercial office at Vibrant Building, AB Road, Indore worth Rs 45 lakh; investment of Rs 20 lakh in mutual funds; deposits of Rs 25 lakh in various banks; cash Rs 3.30 lakh; gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 7 lakh; household materials found in Indore’s flat amounting to Rs 20 lakh and a Tata Indica Vista car worth Rs 5 lakh.

Inspector Shrivastava said that Jain was posted in Ujjain Municipal Corporation in 2014 as additional commissioner. Jain looked after some important departments of UMC during Simhastha Fair-2016.  He also held office of deputy commissioner Indore Municipal Corporation. He started his career as chief municipal officer after being recruited through the Civil Administration Services in 1982.
