Rafael Nadal reveals big change he made to beat Guillermo Garcia-Lopez at Barcelona Open
RAFAEL NADAL says he had to change his mentality to beat Guillermo Garcia-Lopez in the Barcelona Open this afternoon.
Nadal was in unstoppable form during periods of the match as he steamrolled to a 6-1, 6-3 win.
The world No 1 extended his Open Era record of consecutive sets won on clay to 40 with his latest victory.
Nadal set up a quarter-final clash with Novak Djokovic’s conqueror Martin Klizan tomorrow.
However, the clash with Garcia-Lopez was the first time which Nadal says he felt comfortable throughout the competition this season.

“I had a clear idea of what I had to do to win.
“I made a great first set although I was a bit clueless when I got 4-0 in the second set, the rival gained confidence and began to play more aggressive.”
After being handed a bye in the first round, Nadal beat Roberto Carballes Baena yesterday to reach the last 16.
The 30-year-old was given a tough afternoon and he came through the match disappointed with his performance, which he put down to one reason.

"I have a good dynamic, winning seven [matches] in a row before arriving here, two in the Cup and five in Monte Carlo,” he added.
“However, whenever you get to a different tournament, it gives you a bit of a slump.
"Roberto played very well yesterday, I did not find my game at the beginning of the match.
"I felt very uncomfortable due to his game, I gradually got into the track, improving and taking the victory. Strange."
