A Norman kidnapping suspect was fatally shot Thursday during a chase with law officers in Texas, law officers confirmed Thursday afternoon.

The chase began in Burkburnett, Texas, in Wichita County and continued into Vernon, Texas, in Wilbarger County. The suspect vehicle, which had punctured tires due to officer's spike strips, drove into a bar ditch.

The victim ran away from the vehicle but was tackled by the suspect, who began stabbing her, Texas law officers said.

The suspect ran away from Texas troopers and was fatally shot by a trooper. The victim, whose condition is not known, was taken a hospital in Wichita Falls, Texas troopers said. 

The kidnapping was reported about 7:25 a.m. Thursday in the 1200 block of 36th Avenue NW. A woman was reportedly taken from Norman after a domestic disturbance, police said.

The reporting party gave police a suspect description and vehicle description. Police disseminated that information to law officers in Oklahoma and Texas after they were told the suspect and victim were heading toward Texas.

Texas law officers told Norman police they were in pursuit with the suspect vehicle.

Norman police said the suspect and the victim were involved in a domestic relationship before Thursday morning's incident.

Neither the victim nor the suspect have been identified as of Thursday afternoon.
