An 84-year-old Palm Coast woman was killed Wednesday evening in a two-vehicle crash in Flagler County, according to a news release from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The woman was pronounced dead at Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach and her identity was being withheld pending notification of next of kin, FHP stated.

According to FHP, the wreck took place at 5:06 p.m. when a white 2015 Chevy Equinox compact SUV driven by Jessica Shank, 27, of Palm Coast, was traveling west on Utility Drive. A red 2015 Nissan Altima driven by the victim attempted to make a left turn to head south onto Old Kings Road.

The front of the Altima collided with the front driver's side of Shank's SUV, FHP reported. The Altima rotated in a counter-clockwise direction, coming to rest in a southwesterly direction across both north- and southbound lanes of Old Kings Road.

FHP said Shank's SUV came to rest partially in the southbound lane and grass shoulder in a northwesterly direction.

Shanks and the passenger in the Altima, Louis Jones, 84, of Palm Coast, both sustained minor injuries and were transported to Halifax Health.

The report states that the victim was not wearing a seat belt but Jones and Shanks were. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the wreck. Charges are pending.
