Ronny Jackson Withdraws His Nomination to Head VA

President Donald Trump's pick to lead the Department of Veterans Affairs has withdrawn his nomination.

Rear Adm.

Ronny Jackson announced his decision  in a statement  Thursday morning.

It read, in part, "Going into this process, I expected tough questions about how to best care for our veterans, but I did not expect to have to dignify baseless and anonymous attacks on my character and integrity." Jackson is facing multiple allegations of improper conduct.  Several reports say  he's accused of promoting a hostile work environment, drinking on the job and overprescribing medication.  Additional reporting from  Newsy affiliate CNN .
