She'd just started a new job at Villanova. Then Meredith Chapman made national headlines after she was found shot dead in her home, the victim of what police called a murder-suicide. 

The case grabbed attention because of its details that read like the plot of a TV crime show. Jennair Gerardot, the wife of Chapman's lover Mark Gerardot, lay in wait with a gun at the home in Radnor Township, Pennsylvania, killing Chapman and then turning the gun on herself, police said. 

Chapman was well known in Delaware. She had served as a communications official at the University of Delaware and made a run in 2016 for the state Senate.
