Leading fashion designers Rohit Bal, Anju Modi, Payal Jain and Poonam Bhagat experimented with the warp and weft that is embedded in the soul of the nation

It is the fabric that is identified with the national movement but then Khadi has got a grammar and language which has become more glamourous.

Khadi — Transcending Boundaries, handspun around the country’s fabric of freedom Khadi was organised by The Fashion Design Council of India presented recently in the capital.

Designers Rohit Bal, Anju Modi, Payal Jain and Poonam Bhagat presented innovative modern twists to Khadi ensembles in colours of white, black, indigo and mustard.

Sunil Sethi, president FDCI said, “We would like to thank KVIC and Khadi India for believing in us. We will strive to promote Khadi through multi-faceted and meaningful drives which will bring to the fore its true potential and catapult it in the global arena.”

While Anju Modi played on the shaded ensembles where yellow merged with brown and the off-white was detailed with coloured borders.

Payal Jain on the the other hand played around with monochromes where whites and blacks dominated the collection.

Poonam Bhagat’s outfits dressed up khadi where the outfits were fit for a night out.

With copper being dominant, the ensembles had a glamourous sheen to them.

The creativity of Rohit Bal was evident in the detailing on his outfits.

His outfits in ivory with colourful embroidery were one of a kind.
