Dale Lee Butterfield, 75, of Vinton, Iowa, died April 12, 2018.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 5, 2018, at 1 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, located at 307 North
K Ave., Vinton, Iowa. You can pay your respects to the family beginning at 11:30 a.m. Anyone is welcome to attend. A private inurnment will take place at a later date.
Dale was born Jan. 7, 1943, to Carl and Carlotta (Welch) Butterfield in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He graduated from Washington High in Vinton, Iowa, in 1963.
On March 24, 1978, he married Sharon Lowe in Anamosa, Iowa.
Throughout his life, Dale worked at Perfex, ran a Sinclair gas station, owned a sawmill and was a machinist at John Deere and Cedar Rapids Inc. He retired in January 2008.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon; children, Dalice Kropp of Gainesville, Fla., Dale Lee Jr. of Vinton, Iowa, Kristin Nissen of Quartz Hill, Calif., and Nichole Smith of Vinton, Iowa; four grandchildren, Melanie and Randy Kropp and Alayna and Roman Smith; brothers, Courtland and Chet Butterfield; sisters, Maxiene Noller and Hazel Prue; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother and sister, Barbara Sumner.
Dale loved spending time with his family and friends. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. He also enjoyed sharing his love of the Bible with others. As many know, he loved the outdoors. He always made time for fishing with his buddies, hunting, looking for mushrooms and exploring nature. He was a jack of all trades and could figure out a way to fix just about anything. He will be greatly missed.
