Clashes lead to tension between 2 groups despite peace claims

Tension between two communities and fear among common men still prevailed in the Corporation town of Phagwara despite repeated claims of peace made by civil and police administration even after nine days of the violent clashes.

Though Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Tayab and Senior Superintendent of the Police Kapurthala Sandeep Sharma are still camping at Phagwara since April 13 night and monitoring the situation besides inspecting daily Mock Drill exercises of the security forces to deal with any untoward incident.

Meanwhile, indefinite hunger strike of Bahujan Sangharash Organisation Leader Rajinder Ghera entered the fifth day today. He lost weight of four kg during hunger strike.Ambedeker Sena President Surinder Dhadhey,Gurcharan Dass guru,Kamal Lakhpur, Satish Suman,Balbir Khalwara,Dharminder Bhularai, too joined hunger strike for today.SAD(A) National Executive Member Jathedar Rajinder Singh Fauji also visited the camp of hunger strike and assured full co-operation. Their demands include immediate arrest of the remaining Hindu Leaders and withdrawal of cases registered against Dalit Leaders.

Meanwhile General Samaj Manch Punjab have summoned another meeting on Monday afternoon at Phagwara. Manch demands include immediate arrests of the all dalit leaders booked by the police after April 13 clashes. On the other hand several Dalit Organizations have announced to organize “Protest March” and demonstration in the town on Monday.

D.C. and SSP have advised the senior police officers to maintain co-ordination with their respective Duty Magistrates to control the situation. However uncertainty continued in the town. Meanwhile the condition of injured Bobby was still critical in DMC Ludhiana.
