CIFA holds meet for tribal students

The ICAR-Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture (CIFA) in collaboration with the State Fisheries Department, Ganjam zone, conducted an awareness meet for tribal students entitled "Fish as Healthy Food” at Badapalli  Ashram School in Digapahandi block on April 20.

More than 350 students from seven nearby schools participated in a meet with their teachers. Awareness was created among the students through direct discussions with the scientists and technical officers of ICAR-CIFA, and fisheries officers on the nutritional value of fish.

Around 100 officials from various line departments, ICAR-CIFA and local public representatives attended the function. Among others Principal Scientist and Director ICAR-CIFA Dr KN Mahanta, Brahmapur Sub-Collector Siddharth Sankar Swain, Principal Scientist Dr BC Mohapatra, ADWO Bidya Bhusan Mohanty, District Agriculture Officer Ram Chandra Patnaik, Joint Secretary, FARD, Siba Narayana and Deputy Director Fisheries, Ganjam, SP Bhoi were present.
