Amherst dropped two games last week to fall to 6-5 on the season. The Lancers have now lost four of their last five games.

First, Amherst lost to E.C. Glass High School, 6-3. The score was tied 3-3 in the sixth inning before the Hilltoppers pushed across three runs in the inning to take the lead. Freshman Christian Martin had two of the five Amherst hits on the night. Kyle Orme, Seth Mays and Devin Sandidge managed the other three hits. Timmy Byers suffered the loss allowing 10 hits, four earned runs, walking one and striking out four over five-plus innings.

Next, Amherst hosted Brookville and fell to the Bees, 3-2. The Lancer offense could only muster four hits during this contest. Amherst took a 2-0 early lead when Ryan Thomason scored on a wild pitch and Tyler Knight followed him in on a throwing error by the Brookville catcher. It would be the only runs of the night for Amherst.

Brookville scored two runs on a throwing error to take the lead in the fourth inning. Knight had two hits for the Lancers. Sophomore Tyler Hargis was the losing pitcher despite throwing a complete game. Hargis allowed 10 hits, two earned runs, walked two and struck out seven.

Amherst will visit Jefferson Forest High School Friday for a 7:30 p.m. contest before hosting Harrisonburg at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
