Self-styled godman Asaram Bapu was yesterday sentenced to life-long jail term by a special SC/ST court here for raping a minor nearly five years ago. This is the second case of a powerful spiritual leader being convicted of a sexual offence in less than a year after Gurmeet Ram Rahim last August. On which television celebrities ‘thankful’ to Indian law.

Shubhangi Atre: Happy with the verdict. Crime is a crime. Sad, If a person who has millions of followers commit such a crime, what will his followers learn. I trust our legal system. I also pray rape cases come to an end and our daughters, sister can live a secured life.

Sara Khan: Earning bread and butter by faking and becoming a God person is accepted for a chance. But such rape and crimes are not at all. Thanks that Indian law gives justice.
