Muted demand drag down nickel futures by 0.69%

Press Trust of India  |  New Delhi

Nickel prices fell by 0.69 per cent to Rs 940.60 per kg in futures market today as speculators cut their bets amid easing demand at spot markets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in April fell by Rs 6.50, or 0.69 per cent, to Rs 940.60 per kg in business turnover of 2013 lots.

Likewise, the for delivery in May moved down by Rs 5.60, or 0.59 per cent, to Rs 944.40 per kg in 168 lots.

Market analysts attributed the slide in nickel futures to offloading of positions by participants owing to slackened demand from alloy-makers in the physical market, mainly led to decline in nickel prices at futures trade.
