Liga’s death: police await forensic reports

All angles being probed: police chief

Three days after Latvian national Liga Skromane’s decomposed body was recovered from Vazhamuttom, the police continued to grope in the dark about the cause of the death even as her sister Ilze Skromane continued to maintain that it was a case of murder.

District Police Chief (Thiruvananthapuram City) P. Prakash said the police had kept all doors open until conclusive reports were received.

“We are probing all angles on how the death happened, whether it was homicide or suicide. We are yet to get a conclusive report from the forensic experts. Since the body was in a putrefied state, several tests have to be intensively conducted before a definite opinion is arrived at. We are keeping all doors open till that,” said Mr. Prakash.

Asphyxiation?

The visual media, meanwhile, carried reports of the death being caused by asphyxiation as per the forensic experts.

But Mr. Prakash said the forensic team had “not formally conveyed” any such information. The police are also probing the route taken by Ms. Skromane to Vazhamuttom from Kovalam.

Questioning of the local people have not yet yielded any conclusive leads on this.
