As Bollywood’s love affair with biopics continues, actor Pulkit Samrat is also interested in joining the bandwagon. According to the Fukrey Returns (2017) actor, the genre is both interesting and inspiring. And the fact that movie lovers enjoy watching real stories on screen is the cherry on the cake.

The 32-year-old doesn’t have a wish list of roles or the kind of films he wants to do, on his mind, but he admits that if he ever gets to work in a biopic, he would like it to be on yesteryear superstar Rajesh Khanna. “I have always looked up to Rajesh Khanna sir’s work. And when I think of biopics, his is the first name that comes to my mind. He was the one because of whom the term ‘superstar’ was coined and [he also was] the first lover boy (on the big screen),” says Samrat, who wowed audiences with comic performances in films such as Bittoo Boss (2012) and Fukrey (2013), and has since gone on to play romantic leads in films such as Sanam Re (2016) and Junooniyat (2016).

A self-confessed fan of the late Khanna, often dubbed the first superstar of Bollywood, Pulkit is inspired no end by him. “He has this immense body of work and is an inspiration to many of us. What also adds to my happiness is that I share my birthday with Rajesh Khanna sir. It means a lot to me,” says the actor, whose last release was Arjun Mukerjee’s 3 Storeys, which also starred Richa Chadda and Renuka Shahane.
