Amid non-declaration of 18 winter semesters’ results, Mumbai University begins assessment of summer exams

Mumbai: 18 results out of 402 winter semester examinations are pending to be declared while the Mumbai University (MU) has begun online assessment of ongoing summer semester examinations. Students of Law and Master of Commerce (MCom) course have not received their results despite examinations being conducted three months ago.

Around 19,740 students of Law course claimed they have been waiting for their results of winter semester examinations which were conducted in January. Around 13,375 answer scripts of Law courses are pending to be assessed. While, around 22,724 students of Commerce courses are waiting for their answer scripts to be evaluated.

The university officials claimed they will complete the assessment and declare pending results within a week.  Arjun Ghatule, in-charge Director and Controller of Board of Examination of MU, said, “Law course is facing a backlog as it does not have full-time teachers as most are practising lawyers. We will complete the pending assessment and declare results within next seven to eight days.”


While the university is focussing on completing this backlog and declaring winter examination results, they have started online assessment process of summer semester examinations simultaneously.  More than 36,532 answer scripts of summer examinations have already been assessed as per university data. While some examinations are going on or have not started yet so the answer scripts will be evaluated accordingly.

The answer scripts are scanned and uploaded within three days from date of examination. Teachers have also been informed to focus on assessment on priority basis during this summer examination in order to prevent the mess which occurred last year.

Ghatule added, “We do not want to waste any time so we have begun with online assessment through On-Screen Marking (OSM) system. Various Centralised Assessment Process (CAP) centres are updated with new mechanisms which are beneficial for teachers and the assessment is being done on a daily basis.”
