Indore: A coordinated and integrated action plan will be prepared for deepening, maintenance and beautification of Saraswati river flowing through the city. This was informed by collector Nishant Warwade while presiding over a meeting of a committee to review the progress achieved in conservation of rivers on Tuesday.
The committee has been constituted on directives of National Green Tribunal for conservation of rivers in the city. The meeting was attended by ADM Nidhi Nivedita, IMC commissioner Manish Singh, IDA CEO Goutam Singh and social activist Kishor Kodwani.
At the meeting, it was decided that deepening, cleaning, sapling plantation and beautification of Saraswati river will follow a coordinated action plan, which will be made soon. The beautification work will be carried out along 18 kilometres of length, which will start from near Pipliyapala.
Indore Municipal Corporation, water resource, forest, town and country planning department will execute the beautification project. Warwade said no construction will be allowed in the catchment area.
The conservation work of Saraswati River will be completed in phases. Water samples of the river will be taken before and after cleaning of river for tests. The district administration has asked owners of marriage gardens to build water treatment plant and follow the standards laid down by MP Pollution Control Board.
