Swaroop Sampat is set to return to small screen after about three decades, with her new show. She is a part of Ekta Kapoor’s upcoming web series ‘The Great Indian Dysfunctional Family’. Swaroop was a popular household name during 80’s after she played the role of ‘Renu’ in hit television show ‘Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi’.
The show will also feature Kay Kay Menon and Barun Sobti -who worked in ‘Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon’. Swaroop told a leading media daily that she is happy with her comeback. “My character is interesting and I’m sure the story will stand out. I am very happy to be a part of this offering. I have only started shooting for the show recently and it is fun to be on set with this unit,” she said.
The show ‘The Great Indian Dysfunctional Family’, which is expected to go on air next month, also stars Eisha Chopra, Shriswara, Sanaya Pithawalla, Perlene Bhesania and Rohan Joshi.
Swaroop is a former miss India and has a Ph.D. from University of Worcester. She also trains differently-abled children in theatre. She is married to Bollywood actor and politician Paresh Rawal. Apart from television, Swaroop has also featured in Hindi movie Himmatwala, co-starring Jeetendra and Sridevi. She last acted in R Balki’s Ki & Ka, in which she played the role of Kareena Kapoor’s mother.
