Indore: A group of women created ruckus outside the office of Superintendent of Police (east) on Tuesday night demanding strict action against persons who had allegedly thrashed a BJP woman activist after an accident with the accused’s Audi car a couple of days ago. The woman was on her Activa scooter when the accident occurred.
Babita Sharma, a resident of Sheetal Nagar is a BJP activist. She was going towards Vijay Nagar from LIG Square on Saturday around 11.30 am when the accident occurred. Ranveer Singh Raghuwanshi, who reached SP office along with the victim, alleged that Babit was on her Activa scooter when an Audi car came from wrong side and hit her scooter near Lotus showroom on BRTS. Her scooter was also damaged in the accident. After the accident, four men from car got down and they started arguing with the woman. Following a heated argument, the accused thrashed the woman and they demanded Rs 40,000 for repairing of car.
Mukesh Kero, BJP activist said that a man with French beard had snatched the key of Babita’s scooter and thrashed her in public and fled from the scene after threatening her. Later, she lodged a complaint with the MIG police along with the car’s registration number. However, even after registering a case, police did not arrest the accused, they said.
ASP Bittu Sahgal along with other police officials reached there and pacified the angry mob. The victim shown assault marks to the police officials. Taking the matter seriously, Sahgal assured them to take action against the accused after investigation into the case.
