On Saturday, April 21, The Friends of the Quequechan River Rail Trail held the third annual cleanup of the Alfred J. Lima Quequechan River Rail Trail and the Quequechan River. The event was co-sponsored with Comcast and Groundwork Southcoast.

Over 120 volunteers cleaned trash and debris from the Quequechan River Rail Trail and the Quequechan River and weeded, mulched and maintained the gardens along the trail. Many community groups were represented: Amazon, Bike Fall River, Comcast, CD Rec, CCFR, Durfee High School, Fall River Young Marines, Fall River Fire Dept, Friends of the Quequechan River Rail Trail, Steppingstone Peer 2 Peer, UMass Dartmouth and many residents of Fall River. Adults and children participated in the work.

Fall River DCM and Parks departments were instrumental in supplying tools, mulch and most importantly, the pickup of more than 2,000 pounds of trash and debris and the removal of over 30 tires.

Donations were made by Comcast, Schwartz Ace Hardware on South Main Street and Twice the Ice on President Avenue.

A big thank you to everyone who participated and contributed in any way.
