HYDERABAD: Former minister and prominent political leader from
Nagarkurnool,
Nagam Janardhan Reddy, formally joined
Congress Party in the presence of party national president,
Rahul Gandhi, at New Delhi today.
About his joining Congress, Nagam said that he is inspired by Sonia Gandhi, who had stood by her word and had given Telangana. His main aim to bring down the
Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government that was blind to people's welfare, he said. Several others joined
Congress Party along with Nagam. Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) chief, Uttam Kumar Reddy was present.
Gadar’s son Surya Kiran along with former minister Nagam Janardhan Reddy and Karimangar district BJP leader Aadi Srinivas, who had contested the 2014 Assembly poll as BJP candidate from Vemulawada also joined the Congress in the presence of AICC president Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi. Adi Srinivas resigned as BJP executive member on Tuesday.
Earlier, Nagam Janardhan Reddy was a prominent legislator in Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and later in
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), from Nagarkurnool in
Mahbubnagar district. He resigned from the BJP earlier this year to join the Congress party.
