Bhopal: PM Narendra Modi holds class of DMs from 8 backward districts at Airport


Bhopal: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his state visit on Tuesday, held a meeting with collectors of eight districts, earmarked amongst backward districts by NITI Aayog, at Dumna Airport, Jabalpur. Modi also saw the power point presentation (PPP) prepared by these collectors.

Modi asked these collectors about their action plans to take their districts out from backwardness. They told him that backwardness can be removed if the benefits of governmental schemes are extended to the people in a proper way. Modi asked them to do monitoring of all governmental schemes with full dedication.

He asked them to work with sensitivity. He said the main reason behind backwardness is not to pay attention to villages. Modi asked them to pay more attention to the development of villages. He said better work should be done in the fields of education, health and infrastructure in these districts for bring them out of backwardness. The collectors in their presentation showed their respective action plans on education, health and nutrition in women and children.


Amitabh Kant’s statement created furore

The statement of Amitabh Kant, CEO of NITI Aayog, holding Madhya Pradesh and five states responsible for country’s backwardness, has created furore across the state. The statement is contrary to the state government claim that there has been unprecedented development in the state in past 15 years.

Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has also been reiterating that the state is leading in the country in terms of development. The state government has been publicizing over figures of GDP and agriculture growth rate.

MP Kamalnath said NITI Aayog included eight districts of the state in the backward districts of the country and its CEO termed Madhya Pradesh as reason behind country’s lagging in development reflects the reality of the development that took place in the state in 15 years of BJP rule. Aam Aadmi Party’s state convener Aalok Agarwal too termed the statement of Amitabh Kant as shame for the state government.
