Collector warns of action

Following complaints that medical shops were selling pills medical termination of pregnancy without prescriptions from doctors, District Collector S. Prabhakar has warned of stern action against them.

He said that following complaints, officials of the Drugs Control Administration (DCA) made surprise checks on 75 medical shops in the district and found five shops selling such medicines without prescriptions.

Cases were registered against the owners of the shops and further action will be taken accordingly, he added. Mr. Prabhakar asked people not to consume medicine without the advice of the doctors as it would lead to serious health issues.

He said that the license of the shops selling medicines without prescriptions will be cancelled and further action will be initiated.
