Market Update: IT, Realty sectors in green despite Nifty in red; TCS, Airtel up 2-4%, M&M at 52-week high

The Indian equity market continued trading on a negative note on Wednesday afternoon with the Nifty shedding 28 points was trading at 10,585 while the Sensex was down 77 points or 0.22 percent.

The Nifty IT index jumped over 1.5 percent in the afternoon trade led by Mindtree which added 3.2 percent followed by Tata Elxsi, Tata Consultancy Services and Tech Mahindra. Infosys, HCL Tech and Wipro were the other gainers.

Nifty realty index was also outperforming the broader indices, gaining 1.2 percent led by Brigade Enterprises which zoomed over 8 percent followed by Indiabulls Real Estate which added 4 percent. Oberoi Realty and DLF were the other gainers.

The top Nifty gainers included Bharti Airtel which was up 4 percent followed by TCS which added 1.8 percent. Tech Mahindra, Mahindra & Mahindra and Infosys were the other gainers.

The most active Nifty stocks included Tata Consultancy Services followed by ICICI Prudential Life, Bharti Airtel, Mindtree and Dewan Housing Finance.

The top Nifty losers were Cipla which was down 2.2 percent followed by Vedanta and Tata Steel. Oil & Natural Gas Corporation and Hindalco Industries were the other losers.

The top BSE gainers included Indiabulls Ventures which zoomed 10 percent while L&T Infotech added 8.3 percent. GATI, Raymond and Religare Enterprises were the other gainers.

The market breadth was in favour of the declines with 648 stocks advancing while 1024 declined and 374 remained unchanged. On the other hand, in the BSE, 974 stocks advanced and 1402 declined and 135 remained unchanged.
