Alfie Evans 'Army' run to Alder Hey with medical equipment after plea to help him breathe

SUPPORTERS of tragic toddler Alife Evans have been seen running into Alder Hey Children's Hospital with what appeared to be medical equipment after a plea by relatives.

Appeals were made on the Alfie's Army Facebook page for ventilation equipment to be brought to the Liverpool hospital where the 23-month-old is being looked after.

Alfie's aunt Sarah Evans wrote: "Please continue to pray Alfie is still fighting."

Supporters were later seen running into the hospital’s main entrance with medical equipment.

Alfie, who is suffering from a degenerative neurological disorder, was taken off of life support on Monday night following a High Court Decision which entrusted Alder Hey medical chiefs with the decision.

Doctors involved in the case have agreed Alfie’s condition is beyond help and keeping the boy on ventilator is prolonging his suffering in an “inhumane” fashion.

Alfie’s parents, Tom Evans and Kate James have challenged the decision in a slew of legal challenges and bitter battles to little avail.

Mr Evans argued his brave little son was still fighting on and breathing on his own and claimed doctors initially refused to feed his boy.

He told This Morning: “Doctors only just started feeding him at 1 o’clock yesterday.

“It’s disgusting how he’s being treated.

“Not even an animal would be treated like this.”

He added that the youngster was “proving” doctors’ wrong.

He said: “I’m not happy with the way they’re just leaving him in there and not really pushing to continue to save his life,” he claimed.

The family's appeal comes after their legal team said an air ambulance was waiting near Liverpool's Alder Hey Children's Hospital, ready to fly Alfie to Italy.
