A Fort Myers day care relinquished its license and is no longer operating after police said an employee left four children alone over the weekend.

Keajeah Tyre, 21, was arrested by Fort Myers police on four counts of suspected child neglect on Saturday. Attempts to reach Tyre on Wednesday were unsuccessful.

According to an arrest report, the Royal Crown Academy employee left four children at the day care at 1650 Medical Lane.

A parent of one of the children arrived and found them alone and reported it to police. The parents refused medical attention for the children.

Dana Norville, another employee, told police she arrived at the day care after Tyre told her she had to leave to make it to a visitation. Norville said she changed a diaper and that the children were hungry when she arrived.

The owner of the school, Jamie Thomas, arrived at the store and gave a statement. Attempts to reach Thomas were unsuccessful Wednesday.

The Department of Children and Families also responded.

In a statement, DCF Secretary Mike Carroll said child protective investigators and child care regulation supervisors conducted an investigation into the children being supervised.

"The owner surrendered their license and will no longer provide children care services effective immediately," Carroll said.

Tyre has since been released on a $20,000 bond.
