GUWAHATI: A five-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a man working as a daily wager in the Shantipur area here on Tuesday morning. The accused, identified as Sabbir Ahmed, was immediately apprehended by city police. Charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, he has been sent to judicial custody.
"The girl was playing outside her house when he lured her to his house and raped here. Later, she told her mother about the incident," a Bharalumukh Police official said. Locals caught the person trying to escape and handed him over to police. The girl is stable now and under medical supervision. tnn
