PMGY a boon to rural development: MP

‘Centre committed to bifurcation Act’

Rural development is getting a boost with laying of roads in villages under Prime Minister’s Gramin Sadak Yojana and sanction of 90 % of funds for NREGS by the Centre, MP K. Haribabu has said.

Participating in the National Panchayat Raj Day celebration on Tuesday, he reiterated that notwithstanding the ongoing controversy, the Union government was committed to implementing all the promises made in the A. P. Bifurcation Act.

He wanted all mandal development officers and village-level employees to open bank accounts for petty traders to get them loans under the ‘Mudra’ scheme. The Collector should issue them identity cards. ZP Chairperson Lalam Bhavani said directly transferring funds to panchayats under the 14th Finance Commission had helped panchaytas regain their glory. The cement concrete roads, toilets, water schemes, anganwadi and panchayat raj buildings and cremation grounds under NREGS was helping improving infrastructure, she said.
