OnePlus 6 India launch on May 17, sales start from May 21

Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus is launching its next flagship smartphone OnePlus 6 on May 17 in India.

The new smartphone will be launched in Mumbai and the OnePlus Community will be the first to try out the device at the experience zone at the launch venue, the company said in a statement.

Similar to last year, OnePlus will be offering entry vouchers to OnePlus 6 launch event on its website starting 10 am on May 8.

The smartphone, which continues to be an Amazon exclusive, will be available for Amazon Prime members through an exclusive sale starting 12.00pm on May 21, 2018.

Over the past few weeks, OnePlus has disclosed that OnePlus 6 will have a glass back and will be powered by the latest Snapdragon 845 processor. It will be equipped with 8GB of RAM, a 3.5 mm audio jack and available in a 256 GB storage option.

"OnePlus 6's glass design is centred around creating a 'sense of value' and 'premium hand-feel' and the glass back contains five printed layers of Nanotech Coating, a first in the smartphone industry. The OnePlus design team tested over 70 glass prototypes before selecting the best one." OnePlus founder and CEO Pete Lau said in a blog post.

OnePlus is also reportedly teaming up with Disney to launch a special "Avengers: Infinity War" edition of OnePlus 6, ahead of the film "Avengers: Infinity War" which arrives in theatres on April 27.
